Job summary

The Principal Consultant should have 10 to 15 years of experience in buy-side investment management operations and technology. Specifically, you will have a proven track record in delivering large complex operational and systems strategy, systems integration and/or implementation projects. Principal Consultants are expected to put the client at the center of their work, demonstrate total commitment to quality, and perform at the highest levels possible to ensure client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

Business development & client relationship management 

  • Establish strong and collaborative client relationships with executive project sponsors and other influential project client-side stakeholders, which you can nurture to support the Elgin White relationship and grow over time 
  • Assist with the development of sales presentation materials, as needed 
  • Support the proposal process for each of your client accounts to avoid bottlenecks and ensure on-time delivery 
  • Actively contribute to client account strategy and review meetings 
  • Support marketing efforts by providing topic input for blogs and articles, reports, media interviews, etc. 
  • Support Elgin White social engagement activity via LinkedIn

Client project delivery 

  • Deliver outstanding project management services including working to operational and/or strategic IT roadmaps, applying subject matter expertise to evaluate and select the right solutions, and delivering large-scale implementations to plan 
  • Lead the definition of client and engagement-specific services, define the approaches to use, specify necessary deliverables, and create a dependable project timeline 
  • Ensure a seamless transition as responsibility transfers from the Managing Director/Director to the assigned consultant within the Elgin White engagement team 
  • Drive all elements required for high quality project delivery, which requires rigorous compliance with Elgin White procedures and standards, maintaining auditable documentation, close monitoring of project management checklists, and close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and client-side 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and feedback to our business development and internal delivery teams 

Business and personnel progression 

  • Input into the development, documentation, and sharing of standardized delivery processes and tools for use by all project teams across the Elgin White business, to continuously improve the scalability and efficiency of project delivery 
  • Mentor Elgin White delivery consultants on project-by-project goals and objectives 
  • Assume a leadership role to ensure the professional development of individuals in your team 
  • Undertake professional development activities including staff project assessments, mentoring, training, coaching, and recruitment to ensure top quality client service 
  • Perform regular evaluations and review professional development of assigned staff 

Required experience

Candidates must be able to evidence strong consulting skills, with 10+ years experience working on large complex consulting projects in the financial services industry.   

The skills and professional competencies required in this role include:  

  • 10+ years consulting experience working on large complex projects in the financial services industry  
  • Thorough understanding of project management methodologies and frameworks  
  • Ability to structure and manage projects to meet expectations and minimize potential obstacles and risk 
  • Ability to motivate, mentor and develop staff 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

You must demonstrate the qualities needed to ensure seamless transition of the client relationship from an Elgin White Managing Director/Director to the project team, upon contract signature.

Jeremy Hurwitz

Managing Director - North America

Based in Los Angeles, California, Jeremy founded InvestTech Systems Consulting LLC in 1990. As President and Director the Enterprise Data Management and Architecture Practice for more than 25 years he managed over 50 large investment technology, strategy, and implementation projects for many of the largest global investment management firms. Following the acquisition of his firm by Accenture in 2017, Jeremy remained as Managing Director, Asset Management Lead.

Jeremy joined Elgin White in 2022 to lead the firm’s launch into North America. He is recognized throughout the North America asset management community as a thought leader and innovation architect in the design of enterprise data, analytics, and reporting platforms. His deep knowledge, broad buy-side network, and extensive experience deploying business-outcome-focused technology solutions successfully has accelerated the growth of Elgin White in North America.

Stanley Drasky

Managing Director

Stan joined Elgin White in 2020 following an impressive 30-year career working predominantly for world-class buy-side financial services firms in North America and Europe. He is a renowned buy-side technology leader with a reputation for designing and delivering large-scale transformation initiatives at scale and pace. Currently, Stan is especially active leading infrastructure (cloud and managed services) transformation projects.

His most recent roles prior to Elgin White include Chief Information Officer (EMEA) at State Street and various senior positions during his eight-year tenure at Northern Trust Corporation, including Head of IT & EMEA/Global Director of Fund Administration Technology, Global Director of Asset Management Technology, and Director of Trade Execution Technologies. Stan has also held senior Operational and Technology roles at Nuveen Investments and BNY Mellon.

Throughout his career Stan has been a strategic client or partner of every major front-to-back office technology vendor including SimCorp and Charles River Development.

Erik Schutte

Managing Director

Erik founded Elgin White’s consultancy practice in 2019, which transitioned the firm into a full-service buy-side consultancy and resourcing business. He is an experienced front-to-back business transformation professional and has held several senior management positions during his more than 30-year career in the UK and his native Netherlands, as well as Asia Pacific.

Previous roles include Head of Professional Services at SimCorp, Director at PwC UK, and Managing Director for Wealth & Asset Management Services at Accenture UK & Ireland.
